When David Miller walked out to bat against RCB, there were bound to be flashbacks of April 8. On that night at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, he had dragged Delhi Capitals to the brink of victory with a tremendous effort, battling through injury and pressure alike. But instead of the fight, it was one decision that stole the headlines — denying a single to Kuldeep Yadav in the final over.

RCB vs DC: Scorecard | Highlights

Support and criticism came in equal measure, but for Miller, the moment lingered far deeper. It left him emotionally shattered.

So when DC found themselves needing 41 runs off the final four overs at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, fate had handed Miller another shot at redemption.

The start was far from ideal. He crawled to six runs off his first six balls, and with DC needing 15 off the final over, the first two deliveries produced just two runs.

13 needed off 4 balls.

At that point, the entire Chinnaswamy was backing Romario Shepherd to close it out for RCB. But then came vintage David Miller — or rather, Killer Miller.

Two towering sixes off the next two deliveries suddenly brought the scores level. This time, there would be no hesitation, no second-guessing, no repeat of old scars. Miller decided there was no need for a single. He smashed a boundary to seal the win and stood there, emotional, soaking in a moment that felt like personal redemption as much as a victory for DC.

Speaking after the match, the DC batter admitted it felt special to be back in a similar situation and finally get it right.

"It was good to get into that position again after a couple of games, and even better to get over the line," said Miller.

DID THE DEMONS LINGER IN THE MIND?

Miller was asked if the ghosts of that clash against GT were still playing on his mind. Known for speaking honestly and from the heart, the South African admitted they were — but this time, he came prepared, having worked on his execution and clarity in those pressure moments.

"It’s always going to be there at the back of your mind until you win another game. It’s been a couple of games, so I’ve worked on a few things—mainly trying to stay within my limits and execute better. Those six balls I bowled the other day will always stay with me, but I’m really pleased it came off for us today," said Miller.

For Miller, the formula in the death overs was simple — stay calm, trust the process, and keep communication clear with your batting partner.

"To be honest, we always try to finish it earlier if we can. But when it goes deep, you know you need to execute in the last few overs. We knew that if we could get a couple of sixes—like a six followed by a four or another six—it would put the bowlers under pressure. It was about limiting dot balls and capitalising on boundary opportunities. The key was staying calm, communicating with your partner, and taking it step by step together," said Miller.

THESE THINGS COME AND GO

But does the pain of that GT defeat still stay with him? Miller reminded everyone that cricket, like life, is about learning to live with both triumph and heartbreak.

He signed off with a calm perspective — one shaped by years of experience, pressure, and perspective.

"Yeah, it feels good. But as I said, these things come and go—you ride the highs and the lows. Hopefully, I can keep contributing and stay on the right side more often," said Miller.

For now, Delhi Capitals will happily take that. And for Miller, this wasn’t just another finish — it was closure.

DC will next travel to Hyderabad to take on SRH on April 21.
