In Short

  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 tipped to feature a 4,300mAh battery
  • It may debut in July 2026
  • The smartphone is expected to carry a 50MP main camera

Samsung could launch the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 this summer, as the successor to last year’s Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7. And if the leaks are anything to go by, don’t expect big changes in the battery department. Like the current model, the Flip8 is likely to stick with a split battery setup. The Flip7 already has a 4,300mAh battery, and rumours suggest Samsung might just keep the same capacity this time as well. Even the charging speed may not change. It’s expected to remain at 25W—just like the Flip7, and even the older Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 from 2022.

A recent report suggests that Samsung is planning to shift from conventional graphite-based lithium-ion cells to silicon-carbon battery technology. This transition could debut in the company’s next flagship lineup, the Galaxy S27 series, which is expected to launch next year. According to Samsung SDI documents, the company is testing high-capacity silicon-carbon batteries, including 12,000mAh, 18,000mAh, and 20,000mAh prototypes. However, since these developments are still a year away, they are unlikely to have any impact on this year’s anticipated Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 expected specs and features

The Galaxy Z Flip8 is expected to retain a similar display setup as its predecessor, featuring a Dynamic AMOLED 2x panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The inner display could remain around 6.9 inches, while the cover screen may continue with the edge-to-edge 4.1-inch design introduced with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7. However, reports suggest Samsung may stick with older M13 display materials instead of newer M14 or M16 panels, which could limit improvements in brightness and efficiency.

Under the hood, the device is likely to be powered by Samsung’s 2nm Exynos 2600 chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM. Storage options are expected to include 256GB and 512GB variants, with no support for expandable storage.

In terms of cameras, the Galaxy Z Flip8 may not see major hardware upgrades. It is tipped to feature a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 10-megapixel front-facing shooter. While the hardware could remain unchanged, Samsung is expected to refine software features like ProVisual Engine and Nightography for better image processing.

On the software front, the Galaxy Z Flip8 is expected to run One UI 9 based on Android 17. Samsung is also likely to expand its Galaxy AI capabilities, including improved voice assistance and smarter photo editing tools.

In terms of design, the phone may look largely similar to its predecessor, with only minor refinements such as a slightly thinner profile. It is also expected to remain lightweight, with leaks suggesting a weight between 150g and 180g.
