Bobby Deol had one rule before Aashram release: tell wife about intimate scenes

Bobby Deol has revealed that he first told his wife Tanya about Prakash Jha's Aashram series after hearing the story and its intimate scenes.

Director Prakash Jha's Aashram series stands out as a crucial catalyst in fuelling Bobby Deol’s comeback in recent years. He revealed that he initially discussed the show's intimate scenes exclusively with his wife, interior and fashion designer Tanya Deol.

In a recent interview on Shekhar Tonite, hosted by actor Shekhar Suman, Bobby said he spoke to his wife first after hearing the story of Ashram, as he wanted to tell her about the show's intimate scenes before anyone else.

The actor said he did not tell his father, mother or brother about the project. The Aashram actor admitted that his wife had to know first, adding that he would have been in trouble if she had found out later.

Bobby said, "First of all, when I heard the story I didn't tell my father, my mother, or even my brother. I only told one person – my wife. I had to tell her; otherwise, if she found out later, I would've been in trouble. Whatever I am today is because of my wife. When I was going through a bad phase, she handled the entire house. I think she is my backbone."

In the same show, Bobby got emotional while remembering his late father Dharmendra. During the interaction, Shekhar compared a father figure to a giant tree under whose shade an entire family feels protected.

Bobby responded by speaking about Shekhar’s personal loss and said such pain never fully leaves a person.

“You have lost someone very important in your life, and I know the pain you must have gone through. I do not think one can ever truly get over it,” he said, referring to the death of Shekhar’s elder son at a young age.

Bobby will next be seen in Anurag Kashyap's Bandar, set for a theatrical release on June 5, 2026.
