- As of 4 June, 70,433 successful applications were submitted through the portal
- These included 7,314 verification requests and 63,119 re-evaluation applications overall
- CBSE said a 3.8 million packet DoS attack struck on 3 June
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) said its post-result grievance redressal portal has successfully processed 70,433 applications as of 4 June 2026. This includes 7,314 applications for verification of marks and 63,119 applications for re-evaluation.
The board said the system continued to function smoothly despite heavy usage and targeted cyber disruption attempts during the application window.
CYBERATTACK DURING ACTIVE USE
CBSE confirmed that on 3 June 2026, the portal faced a malicious Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack involving nearly 3.8 million packets. However, it said the platform remained protected and operational due to “timely intervention by technical teams.”
The attack came during peak activity, when thousands of students were simultaneously accessing the system to submit post-result requests.
SECURITY SETUP BEFORE GOING LIVE
CBSE said, "Prior to launch, the CBSE verification and re-evaluation portal underwent an emergency security hardening and validation exercise, including penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, and load/stress testing with specialised cybersecurity support."
The system was reinforced with multiple security layers including WAF protection, DDoS mitigation, secure authentication controls, audit logging, and continuous monitoring.
The portal was activated at approximately 4:30 am on 2 June 2026 only after completion of all security checks, the board said.
MASSIVE TRAFFIC IN FIRST MINUTES
CBSE added that within two minutes of launch, the platform recorded around 1.5 million access requests. At the same time, it detected and blocked over 100,000 unauthorised access attempts.
The board said, “The traffic profile showed coordinated high-volume request bursts consistent with DDoS-type patterns, which were successfully mitigated by the deployed security architecture.”
This early surge showed the scale of demand as students rushed to access post-result services immediately after the portal went live.
SYSTEM STAYED OPERATIONAL THROUGHOUT
CBSE said that despite the cyberattack and heavy traffic load, the portal remained stable and continued processing applications without disruption.
The board credited its cybersecurity systems and technical teams for ensuring uninterrupted service and safeguarding student data during the high-pressure period.
CBSE reiterated that the platform remains under continuous monitoring to ensure a secure, reliable and student-friendly experience for all applicants.
