Rahul Arunoday Banerjee's death probe begins after family alleges conspiracy

An FIR has been filed in the death of Bengali actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee after his family alleged a possible conspiracy. Police have begun an investigation as new details emerge around the incident.

A case has been registered following the death of Bengali actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee, who died by drowning during a shoot. His family lodged a complaint at the Talsari Marine Police Station on Saturday, alleging a possible conspiracy behind his death.

Rahul’s wife, Priyanka Banerjee, along with veteran Bengali actor Prosenjit Chatterjee, filed the complaint in the presence of police officials. Priyanka has named five individuals in connection with the incident, expressing suspicion of foul play.

Chatterjee spoke about the development, saying, "Rahul's family approached the police to file an FIR and were supported throughout the process. In the presence of a lawyer and police personnel, we filed the FIR."

Investigation begins in Rahul Arunoday Banerjee's death case

Balasore Additional SP Dibyajyoti Das confirmed the case registration and said an investigation has begun. "A case has been registered and is currently under investigation. Details will be shared as facts emerge during the probe," he added.

Reports indicate that Rahul had travelled to Talsari Beach a few days ago for a film shoot. After completing the shoot, he reportedly slipped in shallow seawater while returning and was swept away by strong currents. Local fishermen rescued him, and he was rushed to Digha State General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

With the FIR now registered based on the family’s allegations, the investigation is expected to focus on the claims of conspiracy as well as the circumstances leading to Rahul’s death.

The police have not yet released further details as the probe continues. Authorities are examining all aspects related to the incident.
