by Saumya Shubham Jha · India TodayNorton Motorcycles has expanded its new-generation line-up with the unveiling of the 450 Urban at EICMA 2026. The new motorcycle marks the British manufacturer's entry into the single-cylinder segment since its resurgence and will be offered in two versions, featuring distinct styling while sharing the same mechanical package.
Positioned as the entry point into Norton's portfolio, the 450 Urban is aimed at riders looking for a relatively lightweight motorcycle with accessible performance and premium equipment. The company describes it as an entry point into the Norton brand rather than an entry-level motorcycle.
Norton 450 Urban: Engine and performance
Powering both versions of the Norton 450 Urban is a 454cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine developing 47bhp at 8,000rpm and 45Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and a quickshifter.
Norton says the motor has been developed to offer linear power delivery and strong in-gear response, with an emphasis on accessible torque at lower engine speeds. The motorcycle is also being developed with a target kerb weight of under 180kg and gets a 12-litre fuel tank. Its performance figures also make it compliant with European A2 licensing regulations.
Norton 450 Urban: Design and hardware
The motorcycle is built around an aluminium frame, which Norton says is unique in its class. Suspension duties are handled by a fully adjustable 43mm KYB upside-down fork at the front and a KYB monoshock at the rear, offering rebound and preload adjustment.
Braking is taken care of by a 320mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc, with a ByBre braking system and cornering ABS. Both versions ride on 17-inch cast alloy wheels wrapped in road-focused tyres.
The two variants mainly differ in their visual treatment and additional equipment. The standard version gets silver wheels, a silver frame and a cleaner road-oriented appearance. The second version adopts a more rugged scrambler-inspired design, adding black wheels, a grey frame and swingarm, extended mudguards, handguards, fork protectors, a flyscreen and distinctive seat upholstery.
Despite the visual differences, both motorcycles retain the same engine, chassis and suspension configuration.
Norton 450 Urban: Features and technology
Norton has equipped the 450 Urban with a comprehensive electronics package. It gets three riding modes, traction control, cruise control and dynamic LED headlights, along with cornering ABS.
Other features include keyless ignition, smartphone connectivity, heated grips, an 8-inch TFT touchscreen, a USB-C charging port and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Adjustable brake and clutch levers and a low seat are also part of the package.
Norton 450 Urban: India launch expected
Norton has not disclosed the pricing or market-wise launch schedule for the 450 Urban. However, the motorcycle is expected to reach India alongside its international introduction in the second half of 2027.
The unveiling comes a year after Norton outlined its Resurgence strategy at EICMA 2025, following its acquisition by TVS Motor Company in 2020. The company says it has invested over £200 million in rebuilding the business, including its manufacturing capabilities, workforce and international retail network.
Alongside the 450 Urban, Norton showcased the production versions of the Manx R, Manx, Atlas and Atlas GT at EICMA 2026. The addition of the new single-cylinder motorcycle broadens its portfolio into the urban and accessible premium motorcycle space.
