Vettaiyan prevue: Rajinikanth, Big B lead Gnanavel's film on encounter killings

Rajinikanth is set to star as a supercop in his upcoming film, Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel. The film's prevue was launched at a star-studded event in Chennai today. Thalaivar will portray an encounter specialist, with Amitabh Bachchan playing his superior in the film.

Rajinikanth-starrer Vettaiyan's prevue was unveiled in a star-studded audio launch in Chennai. This is writer and director TJ Gnanavel's third film after Jai Bhim (2021) and Kootathil Oruthan.

Rajinikanth plays an encounter specialist with a habit of taking on dangerous enemies in the film, while Amitabh Bachchan plays his senior, Sathyadev, who doesn't agree to his ways of dealing with criminals.

Along with Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, the film also stars actors Manju Warrier, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and many more in key roles. It is scheduled to release on October 10, 2024.

One thing that might not go down well with the fans is Amitabh Bachchan’s voiceover in the prevue. Actor Prakash Raj, who played a pivotal role in Gnanavel's Jai Bhim, has dubbed for Big B in Tamil.

Like Jai Bhim, Vettaiyan also deals with encounter killings and human rights violations.

The audio launch of Vettaiyan was attended by Rajinikanth, Anirudh Ravichander,Rana Daggubati, Dushara and Ritika Singh, among others. Big B, who plays a pivotal role in the film, was missing from the event.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth's character's name is yet to be revealed. The film's title is in Tamil, which means hunter. Vettaiyan releases in cinemas on October 10.
