Actor Ravi Dubey on Monday reacted to gunshots being fired at actor Tiger Shroff's car on Sunday evening. The Ramayana star, who is also Shroff's neighbour, called for those responsible for the attack to be brought to justice. Dubey said that while he was glad Shroff escaped unhurt, he wished the actor's injured driver a speedy recovery.
Shroff was shot at near Pushpa Park in Mumbai’s Juhu on Sunday evening while returning home after playing football. He escaped without a gunshot injury, while two people, including his driver, were injured. Two gangsters linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang have claimed responsibility for the attack.
Speaking to India Today in Mumbai on Monday, Dubey said, “It is shocking. I believe Tiger is okay, and that’s very heartening. But I do understand that the driver is injured. I hope he gets better really soon. But what is extremely important is to hold those responsible accountable immediately.”
Dubey described the incident as a major security lapse and urged the authorities to act swiftly. “We are nobody to make demands from the government. What we can do is request them that this is a major security lapse. Everybody is just waiting for those accountable to quickly be captured and for some closure on the matter,” he said.
Three rounds fired at Shroff’s car
Mumbai Police said the firing took place at around 7 pm near Pushpa Park. Sources told India Today that three rounds were fired at Shroff’s BMW after three men arrived on a motorcycle.
Footage accessed by India Today showed one man firing multiple rounds, while a second appeared to attempt to fire. The third man waited on the motorcycle before the trio fled. Shroff, who was seated on the side facing the shooters, was seen moving towards the driver’s seat during the attack.
DCP Mohit Garg said two people, including Shroff’s driver, were injured and admitted to hospital. The driver suffered an injury to his left hand and was admitted to Nanavati Hospital. He is out of danger. Jackie Shroff’s team also confirmed his son’s safety, saying, “Tiger is okay.”
Police cordoned off the area and took one person into custody for questioning in Mumbai’s Santacruz. Fifteen teams have been formed to investigate the firing and track down the attackers.
Government promises strict action
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called the Mumbai Police Commissioner to seek details of the attack. He directed the police to expedite the investigation and take strict action against those responsible.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde condemned the firing and said the police would catch the attackers and “respond to them in their own language”. He told reporters, “Our priority is to keep Mumbai and its people safe. No lapse will be tolerated.”
Gangsters claim responsibility
Gangsters Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu claimed responsibility for the attack in a Facebook post issued in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. They alleged that Shroff had been targeted for ignoring earlier warnings against working with Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
“Anyone who does not listen to us will be next. Wait and watch,” the post said. The claim has not been independently verified. Pandit, originally from Haryana and now based in the United States, is a close associate of Bishnoi and has previously claimed responsibility for several attacks. Sandhu is also based abroad.
Earlier attacks on Bollywood figures
Shroff is the latest Bollywood personality to be targeted in a shooting. In February 2026, five rounds were fired outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for that firing.
Comedian Kapil Sharma’s restaurant, Kap’s Cafe, in Canada’s British Columbia province was targeted in three separate shooting incidents between July and October last year. In April 2024, two motorcycle-borne men fired five rounds outside Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai’s Bandra area.
Mumbai Police arrested several suspects allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in connection with the firing outside Khan’s home. A trial against five accused is underway.
