NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar is undergoing treatment for chest infection at a Mumbai hospital and is stable, a doctor said on Thursday.
The 85-year-old veteran politician was admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday, hours after he was discharged from a multi-speciality healthcare centre in Pune, for further tests.
"Pawar was admitted yesterday for respiratory and chest infection. He is stable and under treatment," a hospital doctor told reporters. The former Union minister is suffering from a bronchitis-like ailment, he added.
On Wednesday, Pawar was discharged from Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune, where he was admitted on November 2.
Dr Purvez Grant, chief cardiologist, chairman and managing trustee of Ruby Hall Clinic, had said that Pawar had been admitted for a general check-up and medical observation following complaints of pleuritic pain.
Pleuritic pain is a sharp, stabbing, or burning chest pain that worsens when you breathe in, cough, sneeze, or laugh.
