The big news that came out of Lucknow ahead of the LSG vs MI clash was that Rohit Sharma would be missing the game. Rohit, who hasn't had the best of starts to the IPL 2025 campaign, missed the game at the Ekana stadium on Friday, April 4 due to a knee injury.
Rohit has scored just 21 runs in 3 matches with an average of 7 and a strike-rate of 105. However, the MI opener looked to be in good spirits on the eve of the game as he interacted with the likes of Rishabh Pant and Shardul Thakur. Rohit even got the backing of MI batting coach Kieron Pollard, who said a couple of poor scores doesn't define a player like him.

Hardik Pandya said that Rohit was hit on the knee during the net session before the game and they decided to give him rest for the match.
"Rohit was hit on the knee during practice . He is missing out," said Hardik.
Rohit was shown ahead of the match having a walk on the ground and fans are speculating if the MI legend was dropped for the game. While some supported the call and poked fun at the MI legend, others felt he was being disrespected by MI.
While many have speculated about Rohit's absence, S. Badrinath took to X and suggested that he wasn't dropped and was given a rest.
"Not a drop, but a break," tweeted Badrinath.
While MI know best when it comes to Rohit's absence, it could be a welcome break for the Indian opener as he can rework his approach a bit at the top of the order.
