Dhurandhar came up in conversation as John Krasinski spoke about Indian cinema, calling it “some of the most cutting-edge filmmaking” and praising the work coming out of the industry. He is returning as CIA analyst Jack Ryan in Jack Ryan: Ghost War, which premieres on Prime Video on May 20. Krasinski is also co-producing the film and has co-written its story and screenplay.

In an interview with NDTV, when asked, in the context of Indian spy Hamza Ali Mazari/Jaskirat Singh Rangi, an unknown man risking his life for his country, whether he had watched Dhurandhar and what he thought of Indian cinema more broadly, Krasinski said he had not seen the Ranveer Singh-starrer blockbuster.

"I haven't seen the film. But as far as Indian films at large, some of the most cutting-edge movie making that we have. I know a lot of my filmmaking friends who are out there trying to direct movies are constantly and consistently blown away by films coming out from over there," he said.

Known to many viewers as Jim Halpert from The Office, Krasinski added that he would like to watch the film if he got the opportunity. "Of course. I love watching anything. It's always inspiring to see what everybody else is doing," he said.

Krasinski said both the nature of his work and the range of projects he takes on shape his process. "My process of writing... I have the luxury of working on different projects, worlds, and genres. I was probably writing this movie in my head when I was doing this movie with Guy Ritchie called Fountain of Youth," he said. He added that he keeps thinking about the film every day and writing it down, and only sits to write the script once he can see the end credits rolling in his head.

In Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War, Jack Ryan is forced to confront a rogue black-ops unit. In the process, he reunites with Mike November and James Greer, and is joined on the mission by a new partner, MI6 officer Emma Marlowe, played by Sienna Miller. The film also features Max Beesley, JJ Feild, Douglas Hodge and Betty Gabriel. The conversation with its stars spanned the film's espionage world, Indian cinema, the craft of writing and the importance of truth.
