Will be killed by terrorists: Chirag Paswan, under Z security, gets death threat

Chirag Paswan, under Z-category security, received a threat warning that he would be killed by "hardcore terrorists." His office has sought enhanced security and a Home Ministry probe into the unsigned communication.

Union Minister Chirag Paswan, who is under Z-category security, received threat messages on Tuesday claiming that he would be killed by terrorists, according to his office.

His office sought enhanced security for him and asked the Home Ministry to carry out a thorough probe into the matter.

Paswan is the Union Minister for Food Processing Industries and the supremo of the Lok Janshakti Party (R). According to his office, an unsigned communication was received by the ministry on Tuesday and was found to contain a direct threat to his life.

In a letter to Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Alok Kumar Singh, Additional Private Secretary to Paswan, said the communication contained two mobile numbers.

He said that, after it was opened, it was found to carry a direct threat to the life of the Union Minister for Food Processing Industries. Singh said the threatening part of the communication, excluding the mobile numbers mentioned in it, read: "You will be killed shortly by hardcore terrorists."

According to the letter, the contents of the communication, especially the direct nature of the threat and the reference to "hardcore terrorists", were a matter of grave concern and had raised serious apprehensions over the minister's safety and security.

The office has sought enhanced security for Paswan and requested a thorough investigation by the Home Ministry.
