Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s latest action drama Maa Inti Bangaaram has begun its theatrical run with a solid opening at the box office.

According to early estimates by trade website Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 5.35 crore nett in India on its opening day, while its India gross collection stood at approximately Rs 6.20 crore, including taxes. The film was screened across 2,658 shows nationwide.

The overseas market added another Rs 4.50 crore gross, taking the film’s worldwide gross collection to Rs 10.70 crore on Day 1. The Telugu version drove the opening, earning Rs 5.15 crore nett with an overall occupancy of around 37 per cent across 2,040 shows, while the Tamil-dubbed version added Rs 20 lakh nett from 618 shows with nearly 15 per cent occupancy.

Box office performance

Region-wise, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana led the film’s business with an estimated Rs 4.75 crore gross. Karnataka followed with Rs 90 lakh, while Tamil Nadu contributed Rs 38 lakh.

Occupancy for the Telugu 2D version improved through the day, starting at 26.15 per cent in the morning and rising to 51.38 per cent during the night shows. The premium Telugu EPIQ format registered 96 per cent overall occupancy, with Hyderabad reporting nearly full houses and 100 per cent occupancy during night screenings.

About the film

India Today.in’s review of the film reads, “Maa Inti Bangaaram takes a generic story, but lets Samantha flip the script on a commercial drama that has long been headlined, and beaten to death, by male heroes.” The film also marks Samantha’s return to Telugu cinema in a lead role after Kushi (2023).

Apart from starring in the film, Samantha is also backing the project under her production banner, with Raj Nidimoru and Himank Duvvuru serving as co-producers.

Directed by Nandini Reddy, the film also stars Diganth, Gulshan Devaiah, Gautami, Manjusha and Sreemukhi in key roles.
