Actor Akshay Kumar is set to team up with veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan for a new comedy project, where he will portray a quirky tiger hunter against a 1970s backdrop. Marking the director’s 99th feature film, the yet-untitled venture, produced by Ramesh Taurani, reunites the successful actor-director duo following their earlier collaborations.

The project is slated to go on floors in the final week of November, according to a report by Hindustan Times. The report mentioned that the three-month shooting schedule will take place across wildlife locations in Rajasthan and a set in Mumbai, with the production team also scouting locations in Bhopal.

The ensemble cast features veteran actors Annu Kapoor and Rajpal Yadav, while casting for the female lead remains underway. The script has been co-written by Priyadarshan and Rohan Shankar, who previously collaborated on Bhooth Bangla.

According to HT, Priyadarshan remained tight-lipped, saying, "Let the project get locked then I will talk."

Akshay and Priyadarshan recently collaborated in the psychological thriller, Haiwaan (2026), which also featured actor Saif Ali Khan. Jointly produced by KVN Productions and Thespian Films, the film serves as an official adaptation of the 2016 Malayalam thriller Oppam. The plot centres on a blind man, played by Saif, who must protect a young girl from an antagonist, portrayed by Akshay. Haiwaan also featured actors Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and Saiyami Kher in key roles.

Priyadarshan also directed Akshay in the horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla (2026). The film was jointly produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and Cape of Good Films. Bhooth Bangla also featured actors Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu, and Wamiqa Gabbi. The narrative revolves around supernatural occurrences inside a haunted mansion. Co-written by Priyadarshan, Abhilash Nair, and Rohan Shankar, the film premiered in worldwide cinemas on April 17, 2026.
