Anthropic’s Claude AI is currently facing a global outage. According to Downdetector, a website that tracks service outages, users are reporting problems accessing Claude Chat, Claude Code, and the app. As per the website, the problem peaked at 12:30 PM, when around 491 users reported issues with the company’s services in India. The company first acknowledged the issue at 06:23 UTC (11:53 AM IST) and said it is investigating the problem. In a recent update at 07:59 UTC (1:29 PM IST), the company said that the issue has been identified and a fix is being implemented.

The outage was reported hours after the company announced its latest artificial intelligence model, called Claude Mythos Preview. The new model is the company’s most advanced one yet, surpassing its older Claude Opus 4.6 model as well as rival models such as Gemini 3.1 on various benchmarks. Giving a hint at its capabilities, the company said the model spotted thousands of cybersecurity vulnerabilities that were missed by humans across apps and operating systems.

Anthropic has announced that it is working with over 40 tech companies to use Mythos and fix such vulnerabilities before potentially releasing the model to the public.

Claude faced multiple outages in recent days

Meanwhile, this is not the first time users have reported issues with Claude in recent days. On the Claude status page, the company reported that Claude faced a major outage on April 7 for 1 hour and 4 minutes, while there was a partial outage on April 3 for 1 hour and 8 minutes.

Additionally, on March 31, many users said they were unable to get the maximum use out of Claude due to faster usage of their token limits. At the time, Anthropic’s Lydia Hallie addressed user concerns on X and said Anthropic was “actively investigating.”

The company completed its investigation into the faster usage of token limits on April 3. While apologising for the bad experience, Hallie said the company improved internal processing efficiency, and the system should now use less compute for the same tasks and run more smoothly.

She also said that the company is rolling out more efficiency improvements and asked users to remain on the latest version.
