Ranbir Kapoor reveals who was his 'first wife' and it isn't Alia Bhatt

Ranbir Kapoor shared a bizarre fan story, revealing that a girl once arrived with a pandit to marry him but ended up marrying the gate of his bungalow instead. He later joked about meeting his 'first wife.'

Actor Ranbir Kapoor humorously spoke about his “first wife,” except it wasn’t Alia Bhatt. The Animal star revealed that a fangirl once arrived at his bungalow with a pandit, hoping to marry him. However, since he wasn’t at home, she ended up marrying the gate of his bungalow instead.

Recalling his craziest fan experience during an interview with Mashable India, Ranbir said, "I wouldn’t say craziest, as it is used in a negative way, but I remember, in my early years, there was a girl—I never met her—but my watchman told me that she came with a pandit and married my gate."

Ranbir continued, "At the bungalow where I lived with my parents, there was tika on the gate and some flowers. I was out of town at the time, I think, so that was quite crazy. I haven’t yet met my first wife, so I look forward to meeting you at some point."

Ranbir Kapoor has been married to Alia Bhatt since April 2022. The couple are parents to their daughter Raha, who turned two in November 2024.

Earlier, Alia had shared that she knew Ranbir was the right guy for her from the moment she met him.

"Let me tell you, he's not difficult. He's a supremely simple person. He's such a nice human being that I wish I was as good as him. As an actor, as a person, as everything. He's a way better person than I am," Alia told a magazine.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranbir and Alia will share the screen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love and War. The film also stars Vicky Kaushal.
