Streaming giant Netflix experienced a widespread outage on Saturday, impacting thousands of users around the world as they attempted to watch the highly anticipated boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.

Technical difficulties disrupted the livestream of the bout, which generated huge buzz due to the unique pairing of YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul and boxing legend Tyson. Netflix's foray into live sports broadcasting hit a snag as viewers struggled to access the feed before the event, billed as the biggest boxing event ever streamed live.

Downdetector.com, a website tracking online service interruptions, reported over 85,000 users encountering issues. The outage primarily affected major metropolitan areas in the United States, including New York, Seattle, and Los Angeles, with scattered reports from elsewhere. The cause of the outage remains unknown.

Meanwhile, a sell-out crowd of 75,000 at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas witnessed the fight live, unaffected by the streaming issues. Social media erupted with anger and frustration from fans unable to access the Netflix livestream.

“The second this fight started getting good Netflix f****** crashed again. I’m getting super annoyed," one X user said.

"Spent all this money to stream ‘the greatest boxing match ever’ only to crash 3 fights before the main event," another said during prelims.

One fan tweeted, "If Netflix doesn’t fix this buffering issue, this will go down as one of the biggest fails in all of tv/streaming history."

Netflix is yet to comment on the matter.

The bout between Paul (27) and Tyson (58) was scheduled for eight two-minute rounds, as opposed to the normal three minutes and 10 or 12 rounds for most pro fights. Paul won the fight by unanimous decision.
