Marvel Studios has released the first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, bringing Robert Downey Jr. back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom rather than Iron Man. The trailer gives audiences their first full look at Downey in Doctor Doom's mask, marking a major shift for the actor after his run as Tony Stark.

The footage sets up a large-scale battle as the Avengers prepare to face Doom. It also includes a surprise appearance by Chris Evans, alongside glimpses of Letitia Wright's Black Panther, Chris Hemsworth's Thor and James Marsden's Cyclops.

In the trailer, Thor tells the team, "Put aside your petty squabbles... We are going to need a miracle," as the heroes prepare for the fight ahead. The footage places Doom at the centre of the conflict, with Downey Jr returning in a role that now threatens the universe he once helped save.

One of the trailer's key moments comes when Evans appears and leaves Thor stunned. "It's not possible," Thor says before Evans is seen grabbing Mjolnir in a brief moment. The trailer also marks the first full-fledged look at Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, after his brief appearance in Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Avengers: Doomsday reunites Marvel with directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who return to the MCU for the first time since Avengers: Endgame in 2019. The film is written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely.

With Doctor Doom taking centre stage and familiar characters returning, Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theatres on December 18. The trailer positions Downey's transformation, the conflict with the Avengers and Evans' appearance as its main talking points.
