Xiaomi is expanding its 17 series lineup. The Chinese company teased the Xiaomi 17T alongside the Xiaomi 17T Pro, which is set to launch globally on May 28. The Xiaomi 17T Pro is unlikely to make its way to India; however, the Xiaomi 17T has been confirmed to roll out in the country on 4th June this year. The Xiaomi 17 series already consists of five smartphones — the standard Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and Xiaomi 17 Max. With two mobiles in the pipeline (the Xiaomi 17T and the Xiaomi 17T Pro), the series will make seven devices.
What we can expect from Xiaomi 17T
While Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the full specifications of the Xiaomi 17T yet, teasers suggest the smartphone could heavily focus on photography features.
Based on leaks so far, the Xiaomi 17T may feature a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Design-wise, the smartphone is expected to borrow several elements from the standard Xiaomi 17, including flat edges and a squircle-shaped camera module on the rear.
Under the hood, the phone is rumoured to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset.
For photography, the Xiaomi 17T is tipped to feature a triple rear camera setup comprising two 50-megapixel sensors alongside a 12-megapixel camera. The setup is also expected to carry Leica branding. On the front, the device may include a 32-megapixel selfie camera for video calls and selfies.
The smartphone is also expected to pack a 6,500mAh battery, likely using silicon-carbon technology for improved efficiency and battery density. Other rumoured features include Android 16, dual-SIM support, and an IP68-rated build for dust and water resistance.
Although the leaked specifications place the Xiaomi 17T somewhere between the mid-range and sub-flagship categories, aggressive pricing could make it a strong contender in the premium smartphone segment.
Last year, Xiaomi kicked off the 17 series line with the launch of the standard Xiaomi 17, which features a 6.3-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 3500 nits peak brightness.
Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset built on a 3nm process. The phone runs on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.
For photography, the Xiaomi 17 packs a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel primary sensor with OIS, a 50-megapixel telephoto lens and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. On the front, the device houses a 50-megapixel selfie camera.
The smartphone is backed by a 6,330mAh silicon-carbon battery on the global variant, while the China model gets a larger 7,000mAh unit. It supports 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 22.5W reverse wired and wireless charging.
