- The trailer of The Vvaan starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia is out
- The film blends romance, comedy, horror in a forest setting with ancient beliefs
- The plot centres on conflict over Vvaan Devi temple and its development plans
The trailer of actors Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia's fantasy film The Vvaan was unveiled today, offering a first look at a story set inside a forest where ancient beliefs and the supernatural collide. It also marks the first time the two actors will appear together as an on-screen couple. The 2-minute 44-second trailer sets up a world that brings together romance, comedy and horror ahead of its theatrical release on September 25.
It also sets up a conflict involving the Vvaan Devi forest temple and plans for its development. That wider build-up has included the release of the song Chhathi Maiya, which drew a strong response on social media for its depiction of Chhath Puja and its link to the Vvaan Devi at the centre of the film's world.
The trailer opens with the introduction of the Bhuttakas, described as dark forces of nature, even darker than the night. It also establishes the legend surrounding the forest, saying that anyone who enters it at night does not come out alive.
The story then begins with Bhatia's character asking about Chhath Puja holidays, while Malhotra's character keeps offering excuses. Bhatia's character, however, believes that the goddess herself has called them there.
What follows is a series of supernatural events. The trailer places the Vvaan Devi forest temple on one side and its development on the other. Malhotra's character appears to begin as a non-believer, but after he hits his head and loses consciousness, he seems to travel to the past and undergo a transformation.
While the trailer does not reveal much about Bhatia's role beyond presenting her as Malhotra's on-screen wife, she helps him understand the mysterious bond he feels with the forest. She is also seen offering prayers to Chhatti Maiya.
The earlier teaser of The Vvaan: Force of the Forest had introduced the film's folklore-based setting and hinted at a central conflict involving an unknown force inside the forest. It showed Malhotra's character moving towards a secret tied to his identity, the forest's folklore and its supernatural presence, with suggestions of possession and a struggle for power. Before that, the makers had released a motion poster and a brief comic-art reveal that offered only limited details about the film's world.
The film has also gone through several release date changes. It was first announced for a Chhath Puja release in 2025, before being moved to May 2026 and then August 28. It is now set for a theatrical release on September 25.
Directed by Deepak Kumar Misra and produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa Kapoor, the film also features Manish Paul, Shweta Tiwari, Sunil Grover and Anup Soni.
