A new CCTV footage has emerged of the intruder who stabbed Saif Ali Khan, showing him entering the actor's apartment in Mumbai stealthily with a cloth covering his face. The time stamp of the CCTV footage is 1.37 am, Thursday. The intruder is seen wearing a T-shirt and jeans and carrying a backpack.
As per the FIR, the attack on Saif happened at around 2 am after the intruder entered the bedroom of the actor's younger son Jeh. After a house help raised an alarm, Saif intervened and suffered six stab injuries, including one to the thoracic spine.
After the incident, which lasted for about 30 minutes, the attacker was then again captured on the CCTV at 2.33 am scurrying down the stairs. This time his face was clearly visible as the cloth (a red gamcha) was seen wrapped around his neck.
He is seen coming down the stairs from the sixth floor of the Satguru Sharan building where Saif, his wife Kareena and their two children live. The actor lives on the 12th floor.
After Saif was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital, surgery was performed to remove the knife and repair leaking spinal fluid. The actor is now out of danger, doctors said. Apart from Saif, two other house helps also suffered injuries after being attacked by a hexa blade by the intruder.
However, police are yet to nab the suspect despite over 36 hours having passed since the incident at one of Mumbai's upscale neighbourhoods, which has left the film fraternity shocked.
Mumbai police have formed 35 teams to track down and nab the intruder. On Friday, the police detained a suspect in connection with the attack.
Meanwhile, police sources suspect that the attacker also conducted a recce of Shah Rukh Khan's residence 'Mannat' on January 14. A separate investigation has been launched into the matter.
