Lust Stories 3 trailer teases four takes on love, desire and marriage

Netflix has released the trailer for Lust Stories 3, previewing four stories on relationships and desire. The anthology uses awkward exchanges, humour and tension to frame its different views on intimacy.

Netflix has released the trailer of Lust Stories 3, the latest instalment in its anthology franchise about love, desire and complicated relationships. The new edition brings together filmmakers Vikramaditya Motwane, Kiran Rao, Shakun Batra and Vishal Bhardwaj, with actors including Konkona Sen Sharma, Radhika Apte, Aditi Rao Hydari, Radhika Madan, Vijay Varma and Abhishek Banerjee.

The anthology is set to premiere on Netflix on September 18.

The trailer gives a glimpse into four separate stories, each looking at relationships and desire from a different perspective. There are awkward conversations, attraction, marital tensions and unexpected complications, with humour running through several of the exchanges.

One of the conversations in the trailer begins with a woman explaining that women are not like light bulbs that can simply be switched on and off. She compares them to candles, saying they burn and melt, setting the tone for the anthology's exploration of desire.

The trailer also touches on how desire can be viewed through different social and personal lenses. At one point, Aditi Rao Hyadri's character tells her students that vulgarity is not simply about language but depends on the writer's intention and the aesthetics of the work. The exchange is followed by a more suggestive conversation.

The anthology also appears to play with humour and misunderstandings. One sequence features Konkana and Radhika's characters discussing a romantic situation involving "Min and Jin", only for another character to point out that they are in Kandivali, not Korea.

The four stories are directed by Motwane, Rao, Batra and Bhardwaj, each bringing a different approach to the anthology.
