Video: Woman falls face-first into boiling sambar meant for Ganesh Puja prasad, dies

A woman fell into a vessel of boiling sambar while helping with a Vinayaka Chavithi annadanam in Vijayawada. The fatal accident, captured on CCTV, is now under police investigation for possible negligence.

A 46-year-old woman, identified as Sujatha, died after accidentally falling into a vessel containing boiling sambar during a Vinayaka Chavithi annadanam (Ganesh Chaturthi Food distribution) programme in Andrha Pradesh's Vijayawada.

The incident occurred on September 20 when Sujatha was assisting with cooking arrangements for the annadanam. She reportedly lost her balance while a large vessel of sambar was being moved and fell into it.

In the video, Sujatha could be seen carrying the heavy vessel through a narrow alley with the assistance of another woman. A few seconds later, the woman lost her balance and tumbled into the vessel, face-first.

Her feet could be seen wriggling in pain as a huge cloud of steam rose from the vessel. She was helped out as people rushed to her aid, helping her regain her balance before lifting her out of the boiling sambar and seating her as she visibly shook.

Sujatha sustained severe burn injuries and was shifted to a hospital in Vijayawada for treatment. She later succumbed to her injuries.

The incident was captured on CCTV cameras. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances that led to the accident, including whether there was any negligence in the arrangements.
