Actor Amitabh Bachchan couldn't attend the preview and audio launch event of his debut Tamil film Vettaiyan in Chennai on Friday, September 20. However, the 81-year-old actor sent a video message for his co-star Rajinikanth, calling him "supreme of all stars."

In the video message, Amitabh said, "Vettaiyan is my first Tamil film, I'm very honoured. Rajinikanth is the supreme of all stars."

He also recalled the time when he shared the screen with Thalaivar in the 1991 Mukul S. Anand film Hum. In the film, Rajinikanth essayed the role of Amitabh's younger brother along with Govinda. During the shoot of Hum, the veteran actor shared that while he used to go to his air-conditioned vanity to rest, Rajinikanth would lie down only on the floor of the sets.

"I used to rest in my AC vehicle while shooting for Hum, and Rajini slept on the floor during breaks. Watching him be so simple, I came out of the vehicle and rested outside," Amitabh Bachchan said in his video message, which was played during the Vettaiyan event in Chennai.

Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Vettaiyan features Thalaivar as an encounter specialist IPS officer, with Amitabh Bachchan playing his superior. The film will release in theatres on October 10 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.

Previously, Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth have also shared the screen in films such as Andhaa Kanoon and Geraftaar.
