Riteish Deshmukh-starrer Raja Shivaji has had a strong opening weekend at the Indian box office, grossing Rs 40.34 crore in its first three days. Despite mixed reviews, the historical drama remained steady on Sunday and continued its run with a third straight double-digit day.

According to early estimates from Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 12 crore nett on Day 3 across 5,771 shows. The Marathi version continued to lead the film’s performance, while the Hindi version registered an upward trend over the weekend.

Box office performance

On Sunday, Day 3, the Marathi version contributed around Rs 7.75 crore, while the Hindi version collected approximately Rs 4.25 crore. This took the film’s total India nett collection to Rs 33.90 crore, with the overall gross at Rs 40.34 crore.

The film also recorded its third consecutive double-digit day during its opening weekend. Despite a comparatively limited release of 1,852 shows for the Marathi version, it registered an occupancy of 67 per cent.

Raja Shivaji features an ensemble cast including Abhishek Bachchan, Genelia D’Souza, Sanjay Dutt, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi and Amole Gupte in key roles. Salman Khan’s special appearance has also been drawing strong reactions in theatres.

The film marks the acting debut of Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia’s son, Rahyl. Produced by Genelia D’Souza and Jyoti Deshpande, the film stars Riteish as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Genelia as Saibai.

With a gross of Rs 40.34 crore in three days and steady collections on Sunday, Raja Shivaji has maintained momentum at the box office, led by the Marathi version and supported by gains in the Hindi version.
