About the film

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is Varun Dhawan's fourth and final outing with his father, filmmaker David Dhawan. The film also stars Jimmy Shergill, Mouni Roy, Maniesh Paul, Chunky Pandey, Ali Asgar, Kubbra Sait, Rakesh Bedi and Manoj Pahwa in key roles.

At the box office, the film is competing with Anurag Kashyap's Bandar, starring Bobby Deol, and Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor's Peddi. In a crowded release window, the family entertainer has managed to carve out its own space, aided by its weekend growth and mass appeal.

IndiaToday.in's review of the film reads, "Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai doesn't fail because it is loud, silly or outrageous. David Dhawan built an empire on those very qualities. It fails because it arrives convinced that audiences still consume comedy the same way they did three decades ago. They don't."

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai released in theatres on June 5.
