New Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim promised that the fans will get to see a 'new idea' when he takes charge of the team for the first time in the Premier League. Amorim left Sporting CP to takeover the job at United as the club decided to sack Erik ten Hag in October.

Amorim will take charge of the dugout against Ipswich Town on November 24 after the international break comes to an end. Speaking to United's official website, Amorim said that he wants to instil a new identity where the fans will see positioning and the level he wants the club to reach.

"I think you will see an idea," Amorim began. "You could like it or not, I don't know, but you will see an idea."

"You will see a positioning. You will see something that we want to reach that kind of level. You will feel that.

"We have to know that it's like two trainings before the first match. This is the best league in the world. But if I have to say something to you, [it's that] you will see an idea. This I can guarantee."

Amorim said that before delving into formations, he wants the focus to be on creating principles, an identity and character similar to the one United had in the past.

"A lot of people now talk about the 3-4-3 and the 4-3-3 and all that stuff," he said. "But when I think as a player or as a team-mate of Manchester United, it is not a system or formation – it's like the character of the players, the way they see the club."

"So we have to focus on that before everything [in terms] of how we play, how we press. The most important thing for me, at this moment, is to create the principles, the identity and the character that we had in the past," said Amorim.

When it came to his philosophy, Amorim said that team is the most important thing for him.

"In one word: team," he said. "The team is the most important thing for me."

United are currently 13th in the Premier League points table at the moment.
