  • Suriya thanked Karuppu cast and crew in a long social media note
  • He did not mention female lead Trisha Krishnan, sparking debate
  • Fans discussed if the omission was intentional or oversight

Actor Suriya recently shared a long note on social media to thank the cast and crew of his latest film, Karuppu, as the film received love from audiences. However, many social media users quickly noticed that the actor did not mention Trisha Krishnan, who plays the female lead in the film. The omission became a talking point in the comments, with several users asking why her name was missing from the gratitude post.

The discussion soon gathered pace online. While some fans questioned Suriya for not naming Trisha in a note meant to acknowledge the people behind the film, others defended the actor and suggested there may not have been any deliberate slight. The reactions turned what began as a thank-you post into a wider conversation among fans of the film and its stars.

Suriya’s gratitude note

In his post on X, Suriya wrote, "Karuppu The love, name & fame we are getting from across the globe, goes to the entire cast & crew of #Karuppu who believed & worked hard. Backed by @DreamWarriorpic, S R Prakash Babu & @prabhu_sr."

He continued, "Thank you dear @kalaivananoffl for focusing solely on our film till we locked the edit. You balanced our work alongside your newborn, much appreciate. Sai! No words to thank you @SaiAbhyankkar. Happy for the love you are getting. You are the backbone for our film to have this level of vibe & celebration in theaters."

In another part of the same note, Suriya added, "@dop_gkvishnu Bawa! Respect for the immense love you had for me while filming. You & your team worked day and night to give your best. Your love is the ‘magic dust’ on #Karuppu. @RJ_Balaji You promised me a blockbuster & you've also earned everybody's love while delivering it. Respect to your Manifestation powers. Shine brighter."

The actor’s message was clearly intended as a note of gratitude to the team behind Karuppu, with special mentions for several collaborators. But even as fans appreciated the warmth of the post and the praise he showered on members of the unit, the absence of any mention of Trisha stood out for many, especially because she is one of the film’s central actors.

Fans react to Trisha’s omission

That missing mention led to discussion across social media. Several users pointed out that Trisha, as Suriya's co-star and the film’s leading lady, had not been acknowledged in the note. Some questioned the omission directly in the comments and asked why her name had been left out.

One fan wrote, "Mentioned every crew member except her, that says it all. But the main thing is, she wasn’t invited to the audio launch. Despite everything, she has no ego and still remains kind. What a woman she is, but she still reshared the tweet (sic)." However, the users also discussed how Suriya may have only meant to discuss the contribution of the technicians and had no intention of disrespecting Trisha.

A social media user highlighted the same and wrote, "In the video he thanked Trisha. This tweet is just for thanking the main technicians behind the film (sic)."
