What makes bridal fashion special? Is it the heavy jewellery or the larger-than-life lehenga (or saree)? The answer is simple: neither. It's how effortlessly a bride makes the outfit feel like an extension of herself. And Akansha Ranjan's wedding outfit is exactly that.

For her very, very special day, Akansha slipped into a floral red raw silk saree designed by Arpita Mehta. What was special about her look was that it was a masterclass in bridal fashion—without being over the top, yet hitting all the right chords.

For instance, the golden zari border with floral motifs, the custom gold blouse by Arpita Mehta that beautifully complemented the minimal saree, and featured zari, sequin and beadwork. Not to forget the Banarasi dupatta, draped over her arm, adding an extra element of layering to the look.

Now, coming to her jewellery. Very quintessential pieces, yet not too much. Just a heavy jadau necklace to go with the red saree. Other elements included a maang tikka, kanchain, earrings, kadas, hathphool and, of course, her red chooda to tie it all together.

The makeup was dewy—again, very minimal—with a tiny red bindi rounding off the look. Her hair was styled in a half-up, half-down hairstyle, which is where the kanchain really worked.

The groom's fashion was minimal too. Groom Sharan Sharma was dressed in an ivory three-piece—a kurta, trousers and a jacket. The jacket and kurta featured floral embroidery in gold.
