Caught on dashcam: Men swarm car, attack family on expressway; 3 arrested

A family was attacked after a group of men intercepted their car on the Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway. A dashcam video of the assault has gone viral as police are yet to announce any action.

Three men have been arrested for allegedly chasing and assaulting a car driver travelling with his family on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway after what police described as a dispute over a minor collision between two vehicles.

The incident, which was captured on a dashcam and has since gone viral on social media, took place near Maddur in Mandya district.

According to Mandya Superintendent of Police Dr Shobha Rani, the two vehicles had brushed against each other near Srirangapatna. The occupants initially settled the matter at the spot before parting ways.

However, after noticing more extensive damage to their own vehicle, the accused allegedly chased the family's car, intercepted it near Maddur and assaulted the driver.

"The accused initially settled the dispute after their vehicles brushed against each other near Srirangapatna, but later pursued the victim after noticing greater damage to their own car. They allegedly intercepted the family's vehicle near Maddur and assaulted the driver," the SP said.

THREE ARRESTED, FOURTH ACCUSED ON THE RUN

Police have arrested Santosh, Arun and Abhishek, all residents of Bengaluru, in connection with the case.

A search is underway for a fourth accused who remains absconding.

The victim sustained minor injuries in the attack and has lodged a police complaint.

DASHCAM VIDEO GOES VIRAL

The 52-second dashcam footage shows traffic moving normally on the expressway before a Maruti Suzuki Alto carrying a family comes to a halt.

The family comprised a man, his wife, their children and an elderly woman.

The video shows a group of men rushing towards the Alto, shouting at the driver before forcefully opening the driver's door and assaulting him.

As the attack intensifies, an occupant of another vehicle steps out in an apparent attempt to intervene. The assailants are then seen dragging the driver out of the car while a woman from the Alto tries to stop the assault.

Police have launched further investigations into the incident.
