Chand Mera Dil box office Day 2: Ananya-Lakshya's film sees strong growth

Chand Mera Dil recorded a 21.7 per cent rise in box office collections on its second day. The jump pushed its India nett total to Rs 6.65 crore despite mixed reactions and competition.

Chand Mera Dil registered a healthy rise in collections on its second day at the box office despite opening to mixed audience reactions and arriving with limited pre-release buzz. The romantic drama, starring Lakshya Lalwani and Ananya Panday, recorded more than 21 per cent growth on Saturday after a decent opening day.

According to tracking website Sacnilk, the Vivek Soni directorial earned Rs 3.65 crore nett across 4,884 shows on Day 2. This was a 21.7 per cent increase from its Day 1 collection. With the latest figures, the film's total India gross collection has reached Rs 7.89 crore, while its India nett total stands at Rs 6.65 crore. Overseas, it collected Rs 50 lakh on Day 2, taking its international gross total to Rs 80 lakh. Its worldwide gross collection currently stands at Rs 8.69 crore.

Competition at the box office

Chand Mera Dil is currently facing competition from the Hollywood release Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, along with last week's Hindi release Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rakul Preet Singh and Sara Ali Khan.

Despite the limited buzz around its release and the competition in theatres, Chand Mera Dil has managed to outperform the recently released romantic drama Ek Din, starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi. The Aamir Khan-backed film had earned around Rs 1 crore on its second day in theatres.

About the film

In the film, Lakshya Lalwani plays Aarav, while Ananya Panday stars as Chandni and Aastha Singh plays Jyotsna. The supporting cast includes Pratham Rathod, Aashish Dubey, Ankur Poddar and Elvis Jose in key roles.
