Jailer 2 box office Day 2: Rajinikanth's film hits Rs 200 crore jackpot globally

Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 crossed Rs 200 crore worldwide within two days of release. Strong overseas earnings drove the milestone despite a decline in domestic collections.

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has crossed the Rs 200-crore mark at the worldwide box office within two days of its theatrical release. The action film, featuring Mohanlal and Vidya Balan, has grossed Rs 209.10 crore globally, with overseas markets contributing significantly to its total despite a dip in domestic collections on Friday.

On Day 2, Friday, October 16, Jailer 2 earned Rs 35.60 crore in India nett across 13,157 shows, taking its cumulative domestic nett collection to Rs 95.30 crore. Its India gross stands at Rs 112.10 crore, while overseas earnings have reached Rs 97 crore. According to Sacnilk, the film’s second-day India nett collection declined by 40.4 per cent from its opening-day figure of Rs 59.70 crore. The film had recorded 16,599 shows and 55.4 per cent overall occupancy on Day 1, compared with 48.2 per cent occupancy on Friday.

The Tamil version led the domestic box office on Day 2, collecting Rs 25.25 crore from 7,243 shows at 61 per cent occupancy. The Telugu version earned Rs 7.25 crore across 1,940 shows, with occupancy at 54.3 per cent. The Hindi version contributed Rs 2.75 crore from 3,850 shows, recording 21 per cent occupancy, while the Kannada version added Rs 35 lakh from 124 shows at 46 per cent occupancy.

The Tamil 2D version recorded 63 per cent overall occupancy on Friday, with night shows leading at 85.92 per cent. Morning, afternoon and evening shows registered 39.54 per cent, 57.08 per cent and 69.46 per cent occupancy, respectively. The Telugu 2D version reported 53.94 per cent overall occupancy, with night shows reaching 73.64 per cent. The Hindi 2D version recorded 26.83 per cent overall occupancy, with night screenings performing best at 44.17 per cent.

Jailer 2 recorded 2,383,879 footfalls on its second day, taking its cumulative footfalls over the first two days to 6,130,613. While the film has crossed a major worldwide box-office milestone, its performance over the weekend will be crucial in determining whether it can sustain its momentum.

Jailer 2 is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, who has also written the film, and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures. Rajinikanth reprises his role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, with the ensemble cast featuring Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, SJ Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan and Suraj Venjaramoodu.

Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Jackie Shroff return to the franchise, while Hrithik Roshan makes a special appearance as Roddy. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music, Vijay Kartik Kannan has handled cinematography, and R Nirmal is the editor. The action entertainer released in theatres on October 15, 2026.
