The film's weekday performance has also come amid competition from Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2, which released alongside Batwara 1947 on August 14. The romantic action drama has been enjoying a significantly stronger run and crossed the Rs 150 crore worldwide mark within its first week, giving it a clear edge in the Independence Day box-office clash.

For Batwara 1947, the immediate challenge is to convert its Rs 47.62 crore worldwide tally into the Rs 50 crore milestone and, more importantly, find enough audience traction to sustain its run into the second week.
