Jharkhand student protest leader warns of mass movement

Jharkhand: The state in the east continues to reel under the burden of incessant protest.

The student leaders in Jharkhand are giving a serious call that unless the pending demands of students are fulfilled, the agitation may take the shape of mass movement.

Some 50,000 student marched in Ranchi on August 10 while many efforts were made to stop them, but eventually they failed to contain the protest.

These protests are connected to the alleged irregularities of examinations conducted by JPSC and JSSC.

Students have called for cancellation of the JSSC-CGL examination and a CBI investigation into the alleged irregularities.

The situation turned ugly when the students were marching; the police have beaten them with batons, released tear gas and sprayed them with water cannons.

The leader of JLKM Mr. Devendra Nath Mahto is on a hunger strike and is admitted in the hospital.

The student leaders are appealing to the government to sort out the issue immediately before the stir grows wider.
