Monsoon session of Odisha Assembly to start today, face-off between ruling party and opposition expected

Bhubaneswar: The monsoon session of the Odisha assembly will begin today. The ruling and opposition parties are expected to have face offs on various issues. The ruling party BJD has prepared a strategy to question the government in power.
The BJD is prepared to raise issues such as women’s atrocities, shortage of fertilizers, OTET question paper leaks, large industries moving to other states, shrinking powers of elected representatives under the Panchayati Raj system, etc.
The strategy for the assembly session questioning has been prepared even by the Congress in a recent MLA meeting. The Congress will question similar issues as that of the BJD such as the women’s atrocities, shortage of fertilizers, etc. It is expected the the Congress will bring a no-confidence motion against the government.
It is worth mentioning here that, BJD has sought the support of the Congress. Meanwhile, the government team has also prepared a counter for the opposition. The Parliamentary Affairs Minister has said that he is ready to discuss the issues that the opposition will raise in the assembly.
The session will continue till the September 25. There shall be a total of seven working days in this session.
