Karachi: At least three people were killed and dozens sustained injuries after a massive fire broke out at a shopping mall in Pakistan’s port city of Karachi, triggering a large-scale rescue and firefighting operation.
According to reports, the fire erupted at Gul Plaza, located on MA Jinnah Road, one of the city’s busiest areas. Thick plumes of black smoke billowed into the sky and were visible from several miles away, causing widespread panic among residents and shoppers.
Eyewitness videos from the scene showed flames engulfing sections of the multi-storey building as firefighters battled to control the inferno. Multiple fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and emergency teams launched rescue operations to evacuate people trapped inside.

According to the sources, officials said the firefighting operation was ongoing, and search teams were combing through the premises to ensure no one remained trapped. Several injured individuals were shifted to nearby hospitals, where some were reported to be in critical condition.
Local residents described scenes of chaos as smoke spread rapidly throughout the mall, forcing shoppers and staff to flee for safety. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and authorities have launched an investigation.
