6 killed, 30 injured as luxury bus crashes into parked truck in Vadodara

Vadodara: Six deaths included a nine-year-old boy in the accident that occurred at around 4 am near Kotambi International Cricket Stadium on the Vadodara-Halol highway of Gujarat on Wednesday morning.

According to the authorities, Balaji Travels operated the bus that was travelling from Banswara in Rajasthan to Surat in Gujarat.

Many passengers were deep asleep when the crash took place, and hence, the crushing of the front portion of the bus could not be assessed.

Rescue operations are underway, with NDRF, SDRF, the fire department, and the police carrying out procedures to retrieve bodies stuck inside and transport the injured to SSG hospital.

Rescue works take several hours, given the condition of the passengers pinned down inside the bus.

Amongst those dead was a 9-year-old child.

Many people on board were on their way to Surat for their work.

The accident created a major traffic blockage on the highway due to a large quantity of sacks from the truck spread all over the road.

A police case has been filed to determine the reasons behind the accident.
