31 killed after overcrowded bus plunges into ravine in Ethiopia

The exact reason behind the crash remains unknown while it is said that the bus was overcrowded and the road was hazardous

New Delhi: At least 31 people lost their lives after an overcrowded bus plunged into a steep ravine in northern Amhara region of Ethiopia yesterday during early morning. It is being said that dozen of people were injured in the incident.

This incident occurred when the bus en route from Dessie area to Addis Ababa plunged was on a dangerous, winding road and fell into the deep ravine, according to the police.

As per reports, the area didn’t have much ambulance and emergency facilities due to the conflict high region. It marked delay in treatment of the injured persons that were in the bus when the incident took place.

It is being said that the recue team transported the injured persons using normal vehicles to the medical facilities for treatment.

Due to lack of medical treatment and transportation delay many people lost their lives at the incident spot while waiting for treatment.

Another such incident occurred in Ethiopia in the year 2024 in which at least 66 people were killed after a bus plunged into a river in the southern Sidama region.
