iQOO 12 beats Pixel devices to become first smartphone to get Android 15

Funtouch OS 15 will bring over 3,800 design elements that will include system colours, fonts, icons, and wallpapers. The new Andoid 15 update will be packed with new features of customisable app icon styles and adjustable icon shapes and sizes and more.

Key Features of Funtouch OS 15

Priority Scheduling: The Funtouch OS 15 now has a new scheduling algorithm called the ‘ Priority Scheduling’ that will improve app opening speed by 15% under heavy usage.
Memory Enhancement Technology: The feature increases the speed of compression by 40 per cent and reduces GPU memory utilization for background application. This becomes possible due to an optimised zRAM compression algorithm.
Origin Animation: This is intended to improve animation smoothness and responsiveness.
Lightning-Speed Engine: LSE aims to enhance app opening speed by 20%.
Aqua Dynamic Effect: This feature adds animated effects to system interactions. Over 700 touch scenarios have been optimised for improved user experience.
Other features
The update also focuses on productivity and gaming. The AI Image Lab provides tools for photo enhancement and document shadow removal. The Ultra Game Mode includes a sidebar for performance monitoring and quick access to social apps. The Link to Windows feature has been optimised for better cross-device collaboration, allowing real-time content syncing and file management.
Rollout Timelines
iQOO
iQOO will release Funtouch OS 15 first for the iQOO 12, followed by the iQOO 11 in November. iQOO Neo9 Pro leads will get the update in December, followed by other Neo phones (February 2025), 9 series and Z series (mid-January to mid-May 2025).
Vivo will also release the Funtouch OS 15 update based on Android 15 for its X-series devices this month. The Funtouch OS 15 will be released for the vivo X100, vivo X100 Pro, and vivo X Fold3 Pro starting in the middle of October, followed by the V series (mid-December 2024), Y series and series T (mid-February 2025 to mid-June 2025).
