Mathura deadly accident: 10 vehicle collide, catch fire on the Delhi-Agra Expressway, 4 killed, 25 injured

Mathura: At least four were killed and 25 others were injured after 10 vehicles including 7 buses and 3 cars collided with each other as a result of which, a fire broke out in all the vehicles on the Delhi-Agra Expressway during early hours of Tuesday in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.
The accident took place due to low visibility caused by dense fog at around 4:00 am near Milestone 127 in the Baldev police station area. Senior officials, including the DM and SP, reached the spot soon after the incident. Rescue operations are ongoing.
The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for families of those who lost their lives in the accident.
DM Chandra Prakash Singh informed that “A serious accident occurred at the 127-mile mark on Yamuna Expressway, where 5 buses and 2 cars collided and caught fire, resulting in 25 injuries and 4 deaths.”

He also added that the Chief Minister immediately took notice of the incident and dispatched us to the scene for rescue operations. He has directed that the injured be given the best possible treatment and that an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each be given to the families of those who lost their lives. Moreover, the CM has also instructed that vehicles be driven at a reduced speed in conditions of low visibility to avoid such incidents in the future.”
SSP Mathura, Shlok Kumar said, “An accident took place at the Yamuna Expressway Milestone 127. The reason was low visibility. 7 buses and 3 cars collided as a result of which, a fire broke out in all the vehicles.
He informed that the rescue operation is nearing completion, and so far, 4 people have died. 25 people have been admitted to the hospital, and none of them are in a serious condition.
It is pertinet to mention that several cities across Uttar Pradesh were shrouded in thick fog on Monday morning. This caused the visibility to drop sharply.
