Horrific: Odia woman’s severed body parts stuffed inside suitcase found in train, Chennai police probe in Odisha

Chennai: A team of police from Chennai in Tamil Nadu has reportedly arrived in Odisha and launched a search operation to trace and nab a couple whose role is suspected in the mysterious death of a Odia woman whose severed body parts stuffed inside a suitcase was found from the Chennai-Delhi Tamil Nadu Express near Agra in Uttar Pradesh.

Agra Government Railway Police had reportedly seized the severed body parts of victim Hayathun Nisha (38) of Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district from the train on August 5.

In course of investigation, the Agra GRP could establish Nisha’s identity and visited her rented residence on Masuthi Street in Guduvanchery area of Chennai, where they recovered her other body parts last Friday.

Further probe revealed that Nisha, who used to work at a private firm in Chennai, lived in the rented house along with a couple, whom police identified as Manik Uddin Laskar of Assam and Bhagabati Majhi of Odisha.

Later, the Chennai Central station and Crime Intelligence Branch of the Railway Protection Force scanned CCTV camera footage from Platform 4 and got to know that Manik Uddin Laskar and Bhagabati Majhi boarded the Chennai-Delhi Tamil Nadu Express on August 3 around 10 PM along with a trolley bag resembling the one in which Nisha’s severed body parts were found. However, the suspected couple got down from the train leaving the trolley inside the train.

As Bhagabati Majhi is from Odisha, the Chennai police came to the state believing that the couple may have fled to the state and have launched a search operation to trace the suspects.

Further probe into the matter is underway.
