Monsoon Session of Odisha Assembly starts today: Which routes to take and which not in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Three-tier security cover for the monsoon session of the Odisha Assembly, 30 platoons of police force will be deployed. DG Y B Khurania inspected the security arrangements in the Assembly.

It is worth mentioning here that, the Commissioner of Police, Director of Intelligence and the DG of Law and Order also reviewed the security arrangements. Security arrangements have been taken to prevent the protesters from entering the Assembly premises.

Along with the three-tier security arrangements, the Assembly will be under CCTV surveillance. As many as five temporary control rooms have been set up. 150 officers have been deployed for duty.

In addition to this for the Odisha assembly security, the bomb disposal squad, dog squad and firefighting team has also be deployed. Drones will keep an eye on the protesters in Lower PMG. Anti-combat vehicles will also be deployed around the perimeter of the Assembly. Traffic arrangements in Bhubaneswar for monsoon session have also been made. There are restrictions for traffic on various routes.

The Speaker of the Odisha Assembly has sought the cooperation of all parties in the all-party meeting for the smooth running of the house. The opposition parties of BJD and Congress met and prepared a strategy. The monsoon session of the Assembly will be held from today till the September 25, this includes a total of seven working days.

It is worth mentioning that in view of the assembly session today, Commissionerate Police has reportedly imposed a ban on the movement of vehicles on five routes of Bhubaneswar from September 18 to September 25.

As informed by the Commissionerate Police, traffic arrangements in Bhubaneswar for Monsoon session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly:

  • Vehicles coming from Housing Board Square towards Rabindra Mandap side will be diverted at Keshari talkies square.
  • Vehicles coming from AG Square towards PMG will take diversion by turning right from Jaydev Bhawan and proceed on Indira Gandhi Park road.
  • All vehicles coming from Master Canteen side towards P.M.G. will be diverted near adjoining lanes at Lower PMG.
  • Vehicles coming from 120 Infantry Battalion square will not be allowed to proceed towards Rabindra Mandap side. They will be diverted towards Power House Square.
  • Vehicles coming from Raj Bhawan Square towards MLA colony and Rabindra Mandap will be diverted towards Sastrinagar Square.

These above mentioned restrictions will not be applicable for the emergency vehicles (Police, Fire and Ambulance) and the vehicles authorized to enter the official Buildings including the State Assembly, Lokseva Bhawan and other offices located in this area.
