Four veterans nominated to Rajya Sabha by President

New Delhi: The President of India has nominated four renowned personalities to Rajya Sabha today. They are Ujjwal Deorao Nikam, C. Sadanandan Master, Harsh Vardhan Shringla and Meenakshi Jain.

The Home Ministry has nominated the following veterans to Rajya Sabha as per the powers conferred by Article 80(1)(a) of the Constitution:

1. Ujjwal Deorao Nikam, a renowned public prosecutor known for handling high-profile criminal cases

2. C. Sadanandan Master, a veteran social worker and educationist from Kerala;

3. Harsh Vardhan Shringla, former Foreign Secretary of India; 

4. Meenakshi Jain, a noted historian and academic to the Rajya Sabha

They have been nominated to the Upper House of Parliament, under the powers conferred by Article 80(1)(a) of the Constitution, read with clause (3) of the same article. These nominations come in the wake of vacancies created due to the retirement of previously nominated members.
