Two dead, several feared trapped in Mumbai landslide

Mumbai: A landslide in Mumbai’s Ashok Nagar in Kurla occurred early morning on Wednesday following incessant downpour.

Two persons have died, while several people are feared trapped under the debris.The landslide happened at around 3 am according to police personnel.

According to sources, it took place near Gaushiya Chawl in Chirag Nagar and a part of the hill allegedly collapsed on some houses.

About four to five persons were estimated to be trapped by unconfirmed reports.

Rescuers comprising personnel from BMC, NDRF, Mumbai Fire Brigade and police have rushed to the spot.

The official said rescue and relief operations were on along with damage assessment.
