Two Maoists killed in encounter with security forces near Odisha–Jharkhand border

Rourkela: Two Maoists were killed in an encounter between security forces and the ultras on Thursday in the Saranda forest area near the Odisha–Jharkhand border under Chhotanagra police station limits.

According to sources, security forces launched a search operation in the morning following specific intelligence inputs about Maoist presence in the area. During the operation, Maoists opened fire on the security personnel. And in response the security forces retaliated leading to a gunfight.

In the exchange of fire, two Maoists belonging to the Anmol group were reportedly neutralized. Following the encounter, the remaining Maoists reportedly fled the area.
