Four killed after vehicle plunges into deep gorge in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli

New Delhi: Four people were killed, and some were injured when their vehicle went off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in the hilly mountainous region of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand.
Rescue teams had reached the site of the accident and started the rescue operation as soon as they received the information.
The accident took place on Dewal-Ghes motor road in Dewal development block of Chamoli district, said officials, adding that the vehicle had skidded and fallen into a deep gorge, trapping a few persons inside it.
A team of the local administration, police, and disaster response agency teams arrived at the accident site and conducted rescue work in a steep terrain.

Four people were found dead, and the rest of the injured were brought out and taken to the hospital.
No details of the reason for the accident have been specified yet by the official, but an investigation is underway to look into causes like the road condition, the controlling capacity, and whether there was any mechanical failure.
Accidents continue to be a major problem in the hilly district of Uttarakhand, which experiences harsh climatic conditions and has extremely steep roads and sharp bends that create dangerous driving conditions for commuters.
The people have been asked to be careful. The administration has condoled the loss and has assured the victims and their families of every possible help.
