Virat Kohli ruled out of ODI series against Afghanistan due to hamstring injury

New Delhi: Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan that is scheduled to be played on June 13 in Dharamsala, according to reports.
This comes following his match-winning heroics with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2026 finals. The reason why he will not be playing is because he has sustained a hamstring injury.
The news was confirmed by BCCI official, it informed regarding Kohli’s unavailability for the entire duration of the ODI series as he won’t be recovered by the end of the series.
Kohli was exceptional throughout IPL 2026 and played a important role in the IPL final against Gujarat Titans, he stood on the ground till the end of the match while serving for the team as a batsman.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma’s participation also remains doubtful as his inclusion depends on fitness.
While the team India hit the ground running as the Shubman Gill-led side got their red-ball preparations underway ahead of their one-off Test against Afghanistan, which is slated to begin on Saturday at New Chandigarh.
Kohli’s absence will be a major blow to India with selectors expected to explore other batting options to replace the experienced top-order batsman.
