Female doctor found dead in Punjab, family alleges husband’s assault and affair

Chandigarh: A female doctor was found in a hanging situation at her residence in Jalandhar, Punjab on Wednesday. The family of the doctor has put allegations on the husband that he used to mentally torture and physically assaulted their daughter.

The doctor is identified as Meenakshi. She was married to a doctor identified as Piyush, who owned a eye hospital in Jalandhar.

The couple got married in 2018 and since 2025, Meenakshi was staying in a separate house after getting tired from her husband’s behaviour and assault towards her.

According to the family’s allegation, it is learned that Piyush had extra martial affair with a nurse in his hospital and used to beat his wife. He has also confessed domestic violence and accepts his mistake on call with Meenakshi’s mother.

The extra martial affair came to light due to the CCTV footage of the hospital after she was suspicious with her husband’s behaviour.

Family also said that Meenakshi wanted divorce and her father had asked her to wait for some time before they could apply for it in the court.

The incident is yet to be proved under suicide or murder as post mortem reports are yet to be revealed.

Piyush, the alleged doctor and the accused in this case is not arrested and his phone is currently switched off.

A case has been registered by the police in accordance to the complaint lodged by the victim’s family.

Further investigation into this matter is underway.
