New Delhi: A diplomatic fallout has occurred between Italian PM Giorgia Meloni and US President Donald Trump following comments made by Trump about their interaction at the G7 Summit.

The entire issue ignited after reports emerged about Trump alleging that Meloni had “begged” him to be captured in a photo with her during the summit.

In a blunt response, Meloni posted a video in which she declared Trump’s version as “totally made up” and expressed extreme shock at the remark.

She clearly denied the claim by stating, “I never beg, Italy never begs.”

The incident gained a lot of attention throughout Europe and the USA.

Despite having worked together closely, both leaders were observed in recent times to have differences on international policies.

This escalated quickly to a diplomatic crisis as Italy’s foreign minister, Antonio Tajani, criticized Trump for making inappropriate remarks and decided to call off a planned trip to the US.

Italian opposition leaders joined Meloni and openly criticized Trump’s statements.

This episode became one of the most talked-about events following the G7 Summit.
