Bhubaneswar: Taking a serious note of the brutal attack on BMC Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahu, the Odisha Administrative Service Association (OASA) has decided to go on a mass leave from July 1.

The OASA decided to go on a mass leave from tomorrow in protest against the attack on the BMC Additional Commissioner by a group of goons associated with BJP Leader Jagannath Pradhan and BJP Corporator Jivan Rout.

The Association has said that the incident is not an isolated one and it is being observed that a narrative has been set up for the past one year, to humiliate Govt servants and even resorting to bodily threat, physical assault and mental agony.

“It is not only unprecedented and deeply disturbing, but also represents a grave threat to the safety and dignity of officers across the state who are committed to upholding public service.”

“An attack of such nature on a senior officer, while on duty, is an attack on the very foundation of the administrative framework.”

The Association expresses its strongest condemnation of this act and stands in solidarity with the officer concerned, as well as all members of the administrative fraternity who are rightly alarmed by this breach of security and decorum.

OAS Association urges the competent authorities to take immediate and exemplary action against those responsible, and to implement robust measures to ensure the safety and protection of officers at the workplace.

“Until then, as a mark of protest and to express our collective concern, members of the Association shall remain on mass leave starting from the date mentioned above,” says OAS Association.

Meanwhile, the IAS Association extended its support to the OAS Association saying “We stand by every word in the draft and believe it reflects the seriousness of the situation.”
